It started well for the Snakes, which was a welcome sight. Corbin Carroll homered, the bats were picking up steam and Arizona found themselves with an early 4-0 lead.

It was another outstanding effort from Meryl Kelli on Monday night for the Arizona Diamondbacks. Kelly pitched six scoreless innings while only giving up four hits along with seven strikeouts. Kelly unfortunately ended with a no-decision after Arizona’s blowup in the ninth inning.

Justin Martinez was rolling for Arizona as it seemed the Snakes had the game locked up. Martinez signaled for the trainer and took himself out of the game, Jeff Brigham entered and was unglued as he gave up four runs including a two-run game tying home run to former Diamondback Dominic Canzone.

The Snakes were able to avoid catastrophe, as in the eleventh inning Josh Naylor mean mugged a walk-off grand slam to get the win for Arizona.

Monday was Arizona’s night, until the injury bug bit again and the bullpen problems hurt them yet again. The Snakes cannot get away from this recurring scenario, as it has become a broken record and it is detrimental to this entire season. They escaped with a win after persevering through these problems, and will look to keep fighting as they get ready for the second game of the series against the Seattle Mariners tomorrow night at Chase Field.
