Corbin Burnes continued his dominant stretch of above average outings as Wednesday was his third great start in a row. His only blemish on the day was giving up a three-run home run to Teoscar Hernandez that ultimately won the game for the Dodgers. Other than that one mistake, Burnes so far might be one of the most locked-in pitchers in all of the MLB in the month of May. Burnes sat down the first 11 hitters he faced on Wednesday night.

Ketel Marte had a solo home run in the top of the fourth inning off Dustin May, opening the scoring for both teams. However other than that, Arizona couldn’t get anything else going. May pitched six innings and only gave up one earned run on five hits.

Missing their chances:
Arizona has to figure out these problems at the plate regarding consistency. Some nights they look locked in and can put up crooked numbers at ease, and then on other nights the frustrations mount up as they cannot seem to build up energy and execute at the plate.
The D-Backs had runners on the corners in the sixth inning after a Josh Naylor single that got Gabriel Moreno to third. However, after a pop-up from Eugenio Suarez and a groundout from Pavin Smith, Arizona ended up stranding two runners. These are the moments that come back to haunt them. Without steady performances at the plate, leaving runners on base will continue to happen.
