Questions have been circling when Lawlar would be getting the move up to join the Diamondbacks, as his start to the season in Reno has been turning heads. Last season was a setback as Lawlar sustained an injury in 2024 that sidelined him for most of the season as he underwent thumb surgery while also dealing with a hamstring strain. So far though, in 37 games for the Aces, Lawlar has been slashing .336/.413/.579, which includes 31 RBIs, 15 doubles, and 13 stolen bases.

There hasn’t been room for Lawlar yet as the infield has been solidified for this D-Backs team. Geraldo Perdomo just signed a four-year $45 million extension, and Ketel Marte is the star of this team, who also just received a $116.5 million extension through 2031. Eugenio Suarez has become the everyday third baseman and a massive part of this club.

It has been mentioned that the D-Backs front office wanted to have Lawlar to be able to make an every day impact rather than a part-time role, as they were concerned about how it could impact his development. Lawlar will look to find where he can fit in with this lineup, and hopefully soon. Pavin Smith usually will get the start against right-handed pitching, which leaves the DH spot open for Lawlar when a lefty is on the mound.

All eyes will be waiting to see if the number one prospect in the Diamondbacks system will be in the starting lineup soon, as the Snakes are headed to San Francisco to begin a three-game road series against the Giants on Monday.
