Zac Gallen had some hiccups throughout the game, though Arizona limited the damage early. Troubles came after the fourth inning though for Arizona, as the bats for Los Angeles started to come alive. Freddie Freeman was incredible on Sunday as he went 4-for-4, which included two doubles and a home run that highlighted the Dodgers victory.
Head coach Torey Lovullo on Sunday’s game:
“This is a tough game to stomach, we never really got anything off going offensively. The Dodgers seemed like they were playing at a very different pace than we were.” (Credit – Arizona Sports)

Gallen allowed one run through the first four innings, though he was knocked around after that. The Dodgers came away with 10 hits off of Gallen, five of which were after the fourth inning. What started off as a workable outing ended on a sour note as he went 5.2 innings pitched but also ended up allowing four earned runs.
Gallen spoke on his Mother’s Day matchup:
“ I feel like I made some good pitches and they made some good swings. Overall, I feel pretty good. I had pretty much everything working. For what the line shows, I felt like I threw a little better. I feel like I had a little bit better stuff than four runs on 10 hits, really.” (Credit – Arizona Sports)

After splitting the series with their NL West rival, the Los Angeles Dodgers, they now face another division foe as the D-Backs hit the road and head up to the Bay Area to face the San Francisco Giants for a three-game series. This will be the first time Arizona plays San Francisco this season, with the first game of the series on Monday, May 12th @ 6:45 p.m. PT.
