It started as a bang, as in the first inning alone Ketel Marte and Eugenio Suárez both hit home runs, bringing Arizona’s lead to 3-1 early on.

The Snakes punched back all night starting in the second and third innings. Los Angeles took a 8-3 lead that was started by a Kike Hernández home run in the top of the second inning. Though the D-Backs of course answered back. In what looked like a heavyweight fight, Arizona had some haymakers, including a Lourdes Gurriel Jr. grand slam in the bottom of the fifth that tied the game up.

Eugenio Suárez was able to get a run in when was walked after a hard-fought at-bat an inning later. This helped the D-Backs out tremendously as this was the exact momentum they needed. Soon after in the eighth inning, the D-Backs came alive again as Ketel Marte hit his second home run of the game, while pinch hitter Randal Grichuk followed his lead with his own bringing their lead to 11-8.

Arizona’s bullpen issues came back and hurt them the rest of the way, as Los Angeles put up six runs off of Kevin Ginkel and Ryan Thompson. Shohei Ohtani hit a three-run home run that capped off the top of the ninth and brought the Los Angeles Dodgers’ lead to 14-11.
