PHOENIX — Phoenix Rising’s Casey Walls has retired, per Phoenix’s head coach Pa-Modou Kah.
Walls, the British defender who has been with Phoenix since February of this year, has played professional soccer since 2020. At only 22 years old, he has decided to hang up the cleats.

“With [Walls], he came to me and talked to me and he has announced his retirement,” Kah told the media after tonight’s match. “And the reason it is because for the past two to three years he has not had the joy in the game and he felt that was the right choice.”
Kah also mentioned that he backs Walls’s decision and supports him, noting he wished he had more time to train him.
“Sometimes we feel like people need to be something but he changed his dream,” Kah expressed. “He lived this dream he got to play his dream but now he felt it was time for him to do something else outside football and I support him and the club supports him fully 100 percent.”
