Friday night’s matchup saw Chris Sale get his first win of the 2025 season, while Zac Gallen pitched five innings, giving up three earned runs on four hits as the D-Backs lost their third game in a row.
Who is taking the mound on Saturday night?
After a strong outing in Chicago against the Cubs, Merrill Kelly will look to stay on track for this D-Backs team who could use it right now. Something to monitor tonight is Kelly’s hamstring. He exited the game in Chicago after 5.2 innings pitched due to cramping, which has been a lingering issue for Kelly. So far in his career against Atlanta, he has a 3.47 ERA in four starts. Kelly comes into tonight’s game with a 3-1 record with a 4.73 ERA.

The Atlanta Braves will have back-end starter Grant Holmes on the mound on Saturday night. He can be unstable at times, as his command has been an issue this season. He has a 3.22 ERA so far on the season with a 2-1 record while striking out 22 hitters in 22.1 innings pitched.
Breaking the losing streak:
Arizona comes into this game losing the last three matchups at Chase Field. Relying on their stars has kept them in this crazy NL West race as of now, but they will need some serious help when it comes to consistency at the plate. Josh Naylor is a player to look out for to bring some intensity, as he is batting .310 with four home runs and six doubles on the season. Corbin Carroll is making his case early for one of the best players in the league with nine home runs and a batting average of .315 in 2025.
