From Thomas’ welcome to the valley to Diana Taurasi’s retirement from the league, she looks forward to playing alongside Kahleah Copper and Satou Sabally in May.

“There’s a lot of people there, but it was amazing,” Thomas said. “I’m super excited to be a part of the franchise. It was a great experience to get out there and I’m looking forward to this upcoming season.”

Thomas adds defensive intensity and toughness to the Mercury. The combination of Copper’s scoring and Sabally’s rebounding creates a new era for the team.

For the first time in a month, Thomas played for Laces BC on a minutes restriction against Mist BC on Monday after recovering from a right leg injury. During the game, she recorded 10 points, eight rebounds, and five assists. She also shared updates on her recovery progress.

“I’m still (on) minutes restriction,” Thomas said. “I feel great. They’re being careful in that aspect, but I feel really good overall.”

The Phoenix Mercury is home to legends who have made significant contributions to women’s basketball throughout the league’s history since its inception in 1997. From Bridget Pettis and Cheryl Miller to  Taurasi and Brittney Griner, Thomas is optimistic about continuing to build the franchise’s legacy.

“Now I get an opportunity to play in a franchise that she’s pretty much built up, so I’m excited to be a part of that Phoenix Mercury legacy,” Thomas said.
