Right handed pitcher Zac Gallen made his spring training debut for the Diamondbacks, striking out Angel Martinez before getting Brayan Rocchio to ground out shortly thereafter. Gallen then left a changeup near the middle of the zone that Gabriel Arias was able to hit for a home run. Gallen bounced back with a strikeout of Jhonkensy Noel.

The Guardians extended their lead with a two run home run in the fourth inning from Kyle Manzardo after Austin Hedges earned a walk in the previous at bat, battling back from an 0-2 count.
The Diamondbacks would quickly answer back however, as Carroll would get his home run off of former teammate Slade Cecconi on a curveball that was left in the middle of the strike zone to leadoff the bottom half of the fourth.
Guardians pitcher Andrew Walters would load the bases in the bottom of the fifth inning, walking Garrett Hampson and Carroll and giving up a single to Jorge Barrosa. Lourdes Gurriel Jr. would bring in Hampson on a sacrifice fly before Suárez’s go ahead double to score two additional runs.
The Diamondbacks would hang onto the 4-3 lead after a strong showing in the final four innings from the bullpen. The Guardians would only get one more runner on base in the final innings after Dom Nuñez was hit by a pitch in the ninth inning. Pitcher Conor Grammes would end the game against the very next batter, striking him out looking.
The Diamondbacks’ next game comes against the Chicago Cubs on Feb. 25.
