Future Pro Football Hall of Fame inductee Larry Fitzgerald put together one of the greatest wide receiver careers in NFL history, suiting up for the Cardinals for all 17 of his years in the league. As the football world patiently waits for his professional first ballot selection in 2026, the all-time Cardinal can proudly poke his chest out as being named one of the best college football players in 2024, and even more so being the father of one of Arizona high school football’s top recruits.

Brophy College Prep (Phoenix) junior Devin Fitzgerald was selected by the Cardinals to participate in Nike’s Next Ones combine during Super Bowl weekend in New Orleans.

The younger Fitzgerald will join the 31 other NFL teams’ honorees and selections by Europe’s NFL Academy to participate in the one-day combine, displaying their skills and learning from some of the greatest players in NFL history.

The heir to the receiver thrown lines up at the same position as his father for one of the top team’s in Arizona, and the apple does not fall far from the tree.

Ranked as a three-star recruit in the Class of 2026 by 247sports, one of Brophy Prep’s top targets helped the Broncos to a 10-3 season that ended in the one-point loss to Mountain View High School (Mesa) in the semifinals of the Arizona Interscholastic Association Class 6A championship. He was named second team All-Region, pulling down 52 receptions for 720 yards and nine touchdowns. He has received Division I offers from Arizona, Cal, Duke, Kansas State and UCLA.

The junior is one of six former NFL players’ sons on Brophy’s roster. Classmate and fellow three-star wide receiver Daylen Sharper is the son of five-time Pro Bowler Darren Sharper. Donovan McNabb’s son, sophomore Donovan McNabb Jr., is a member of the Broncos’ wide receiver room as well. Texas A&M alum Rick Cunningham passed along his three year’s of league experince to his son, Class of 2025 three-star offensive tackle Jorden Cunningham, who is signed to New Mexico to continue his football career. And Kyle Vanden Bosch — who was named to three Pro Bowls during his 12-year NFL career — boasts two sons on the Broncos’ squad in juniors starting quarterback Case and three-star linebacker Bastian.
