While he has missed 10 games this season due to various injuries, this will be the first time he will come off the bench for the Suns since he joined them last year. Overall, Beal has started 737 of the 771 games he has played throughout his 13 years in the NBA.
With this change, the Suns’ “Big Three” of Beal, Devin Booker and Kevin Durant will have to figure out how to adjust to the changes and see what can happen if this helps the team as a whole. Phoenix is on a four-game losing streak, has a 15-18 record and is out of both a playoff and play-in spot in the Western Conference.
Shaking up things even further, Jusuf Nurkić will also not start as he returns from a three-game suspension. Beal and Nurkić will be replaced by Mason Plumlee and rookie Ryan Dunn.
Time will tell if this will change the morale of the group or if the issues persist. According to a report by NBA insider Chris Haynes, there is tension in the locker room and players are frustrated with their roles on the team.
The game between the Suns and 76ers begins at 5 p.m. MST inside Wells Fargo Arena in Philadelphia.
