ASU offensive coordinator Marcus Arroyo has been one of the key additions to the program this season that has guided it to a College Football Playoff spot, and has been recognized for his impact.
Thank you for reading this post, don't forget to subscribe! After back-to-back 3-9 seasons, the Sun Devils are 11-2 and Arroyo was named a finalist for the Broyles Award for the best assistant coach in college football. He is the only offensive coordinator to be considered.
Coaches also in the running are Indiana defensive coordinator/linebacker coach Bryant Haines, Notre Dame defensive coordinator Al Golden, Tennessee defensive coordinator Tim Banks and Texas defensive coordinator/outside linebacker coach Pete Kwiatkowski.
Joining Arizona State a little over a year ago, he has transformed an offense that struggled in the Pac-12 into one of the best in the Big 12. With the likes of Cam Skattebo, Jordyn Tyson and Sam Leavitt, the Sun Devils were No. 1 in the conference in touchdowns scored (58), No. 2 in total points (430) and No. 5 in points per game (33.1).
From redshirting at Michigan State to becoming one of the most elite freshman quarterbacks in the country, Leavitt’s rise and continuous growth can be attributed to working with Arroyo. Leavitt has completed 192-of-304 (63.2%) of his passes for 2,663 yards and 24 touchdowns, leading ASU to the Big 12 title.
Awaiting the winner of No. 5 Texas and No. 12 Clemson in the first round of the CFP, Arizona State has three weeks off of games until the Sun Devils return to action in the Peach Bowl on Jan. 1, 2025, in Atlanta, Ga.
A winner of the Broyles Award will be announced on Feb. 12, 2025. ASU head coach Kenny Dillingham was named the Big 12 Coach of the Year and is a finalist for the Eddie Robinson Coach of the Year Award.
