The Phoenix Suns will need all the firepower, and some luck, to advance to the knockout stage of the Emirates NBA Cup as they face the San Antonio Spurs.

While there are multiple scenarios where the Suns would either advance with a 3-1 record or be eliminated regardless of a victory tonight, the Suns announced that star Bradley Beal will be available to return from a left calf strain.

After missing 29 games last season due to injuries, Beal has already missed eight games this year, dealing with the calf strain and an elbow injury. Beal was sidelined from Nov. 13-20 in which the Suns went 0-5 during that stretch without both him and Kevin Durant.

Beal came back against the Los Angeles Lakers on Nov. 26 and scored 23 points before netting 17 points vs. the Brooklyn Nets in the second half of a back-to-back.

As the Nets game was coming to a close in the fourth quarter, however, the three-time NBA All-Star tweaked his leg and didn’t return. Beal would then sit out the Suns’ 113-105 victory over the Golden State Warriors on Saturday.

When he has played, Beal has averaged 18.2 points, 3.7 rebounds and 3.2 assists in 11 games thus far.

As for the rest of the team, the Suns will be without starting center Jusuf Nurkić (right thigh contusion) who will be re-evaluated in a week. Two-way guard Collin Gillespie (right ankle sprain) is practicing but remains sidelined.

Following him missing 13 games, Jeremy Sochan (left thumb proximal phalanx surgery) is probable to return from a lengthy absence and continue his early-season tear. Sochan was averaging a career-high in both points (15.4) and rebounds (7.7) in seven games before sustaining his finger injury.

Tre Jones, the younger brother of Suns guard Tyus Jones, will not face his sibling as he is out for the matchup with a left shoulder sprain.

With both teams able to advance in the tournament, the Suns and Spurs clash in the NBA Cup tonight at 7 p.m. MST inside Footprint Center.
