A total of 98 games started in his career, he was a Pro Bowl selection in 2021, and he was a starter for the Arizona Cardinals for 15 games last season at left tackle. He also visited the Giants earlier this year. He was drafted in 2015, and he started 13 games his sophomore season when he switched to left tackle and never went back to right.
Thank you for reading this post, don't forget to subscribe! The 30-year-old 6’5 and nearly 307-pound tackle provides size and blindside strength to an offensive line. D.J. Humphries signed with Kansas City for $2 million with a maximum salary of $4.5 million this year, Rapoport reported yesterday on X. Humphries brings some hope to a typically strong offense that are recently having some issues in the protection of Patrick Mahomes. The left tackle tore his ACL in December playing the Eagles. When the Cardinals released Humphries, he had two years remaining on his deal and was owed $16 million for the 2024 season.
The #Chiefs are giving former Pro Bowl LT DJ Humphries a salary that pays him $2M with a max value of $4.5M for the rest of the season in a deal done by @SportsAmdg. Big money this time of year. (Edited for clarity.) https://t.co/oej2xddDMe

Sunday Chiefs suffered their first loss of the season making their record 9-1. The Chiefs are thinking ahead to ensure there is reinforcement for their offensive line in case of any injuries later into the season. Having a Pro Bowler who protected Kyler Murray during the Cardinal’s 10-7 season just gives some additional stability to the depth of their O line.
Patrick Mahomes has been sacked 22 times this season and twice in the last two games. Unfortunately, when Mahomes is not getting the time, he normally has in the pocket, with increased pressure that leads to interceptions and fumbles.

Kansas is looking for a three-peat; they have added a few veterans to the team to try to conquer that feat. After training camp, the team added running backs Samaje Perine and Kareem Hunt and wide receiver JuJu Smith-Schuster in free agency. Chiefs acquired wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins last month, and do not forget defensive end Joshua Uche via trade.
“Kingsley will be OK,” Chiefs coach Andy Reid said Monday. “Sometimes you have to take a step back to take a step forward. That’s what we felt we needed to do there.”
Kingsley Suamataia, rookie left tackle of the Chiefs, was inactive last week, and undrafted rookie Ethan Driskell was backup. In Week 10, Suamataia didn’t do well in pass-blocking snaps as he was playing in place of Morris, who had a right knee injury early in the second quarter but returned in the fourth.
Kansas City currently starts second-year tackle Wanya Morris at left tackle and sixth-year veteran tackle Jawaan Taylor, so no specific timing when Humphries will be on the field. When or if it does happen plan on seeing agility, impressive athleticism, and length. Sorry Cardinals fans, Humphries will be in another shade of red now.
On March 13, 2024, Humphries was released by the Cardinals after nine seasons with the team, per the Cardinals website.
