PHOENIX — Nolan Arenado reached another milestone in his accomplished career Monday, collecting the 2,000th hit of his major league career against the Athletics.

Arenado lined the milestone hit in the bottom of the fifth inning, becoming one of the few active players to reach the 2,000-hit mark. As he stood safely on second base, the crowd at Chase Field erupted into a prolonged standing ovation to recognize one of baseball’s most accomplished players.
Arenado acknowledged the crowd by tipping his helmet before play resumed.

The latest achievement for the third baseman is a reflection of the career he has built on consistency and excellence. While Arenado has long wowed fans with his superb defense at the hot corner, his offensive consistency has been just as remarkable.
Reaching the 2,000-hit mark is also a testament to sustained success over more than a decade against the best players in the world.

The ovation carried extra meaning in Arizona. Just one year ago, Diamondbacks fans weren’t cheering for Arenado, seeing him as another star on a rival National League club. But since being traded from the St. Louis Cardinals and landing in the desert, fans have embraced the veteran and what he has brought to Arizona, making Monday’s milestone one they could celebrate alongside him.

Arenado continues to build a career defined by production and professionalism. Monday’s milestone added another chapter to a résumé that already stands among the most accomplished of his generation and gave D-Backs fans a chance to witness a moment of baseball history at Chase Field.
