PHOENIX — After missing Monday’s series opener against the Athletics, Arizona Diamondbacks outfielder Corbin Carroll is expected to return to the starting lineup.

Corbin Carroll is expected to be back in the lineup today after missing game one of the A’s series yesterday with a hyperextended elbow that he suffered on a missed swing Sunday vs the Cardinals.

According to Arizona Sports’ John Gambadoro, the All-Star is expected to play after sitting out one game with an elbow injury he sustained Sunday after hyperextending his elbow on a missed swing against the St. Louis Cardinals. Although he remained in the game briefly, he was eventually removed as a precaution.
Manager Torey Lovullo told reporters the outfielder was day-to-day, but Gambadoro’s update indicates the injury is not as serious as initially feared.

Hyperextended elbow injuries can sideline hitters depending on the severity, particularly if they affect a player’s ability to swing the bat. Carroll’s expected return after missing just one game is an encouraging sign for an Arizona team fighting to remain in the National League Wild Card race.
The Diamondbacks are looking to bounce back from a 5-2 loss to the Athletics, and Carroll’s return could provide the spark the club needs as it continues its push for a postseason berth. With the Wild Card race tightening by the day, every game — and every key contributor — matters.

Carroll’s presence gives the D-Backs one of their most dynamic players back in the lineup. In addition to his offensive production, he provides speed, strong defense and the ability to create scoring opportunities. Keeping Carroll and the rest of the roster healthy will be critical if Arizona hopes to make a postseason run.
