Despite almost a two-and-a-half-hour rain delay, ASU put together a complete game from start to finish and demolished Oklahoma State 42-21 to become bowl-bound.

But to continue his case to be a Heisman Trophy contender by picking Oklahoma State’s defense apart all day long, Cam Skattebo was a force to be reckoned with.
With 274 all-purpose yards of offense and three touchdowns, he was named the Big 12 Conference Offensive Player of the Week for the fourth time this season and is a three-time Doak Walker National Running Back of the Week this year as well.

The California native rushed for 153 yards and a touchdown from 23 carries and gathered four catches for 121 yards and another two touchdowns for Arizona State. He passed 1,000 rushing yards in ASU’s victory over Oklahoma State, leaving Stillwater with 1,001.
In the win, Skattebo became the first Sun Devil to receive and rush for 100-plus yards since former Atlanta Falcon Demario Richard did against New Mexico in 2015.
Between bulldozing through the opposition’s defenders standing in his way and being another receiving threat, Leavitt is thankful to have someone like Skattebo by his side who can make an explosive play look routine.
“He’s a killer and he’s going to do that at the next level too, so I can’t show nothing but love for him. He’s a hell of a player, can’t say much more than that,” Leavitt said after the game.

The 5-foot-11 running back is 641 rushing yards away from becoming the all-time leader in ASU single-season history. Former Arizona Cardinals running back Eno Benjamin accumulated 1,642 in 2018.
Skattebo has set career highs in total touchdowns (13) and average receiving yards per game (15.0) this season, the second year since he transferred from Sacramento State after the 2022 season. He has surpassed almost every stat from a year ago at Arizona State, but he still has four conference games left plus a bowl game to surpass some of the previous records he set while with the Hornets in the Big Sky Conference.
Early on in the fourth quarter, Skattebo was seen without his shoulder pads and jersey while walking on the sideline, causing a rise in concern as to why he was unable to continue, however. ASU head coach Kenny Dillingham said on Monday that he was “doubtful to questionable” for the upcoming game against UCF this Saturday and will not practice before then.
If Skattebo is unable to play against the Knights this weekend, Kyson Brown and DeCarlos Brooks will receive much larger roles than they have had with Skattebo this season.
Already achieving bowl eligibility, ASU (6-2, 3-2) will host UCF (4-5, 2-4) at Mountain America Stadium on Saturday at 5 p.m. MST. The Knights blew out Arizona State’s arch-enemy Arizona 56-12 last Saturday.
