For some, the trailer may not make sense if they have no context or don’t understand the backstory at first glance. Once the research is done, however, the general audience will understand more of what this is about when they watch the preview for a second time.
While he had one leg, Robles was still able to achieve great heights in the sport and remains an inspiration for many to this day.
It also depicted all of what Robles had to go through and the difficult challenges that came along his journey. From the house he was living in being six months behind on the mortgage and competing against the best without one leg, he persevered through adversity along the way and had people looking up to him as a role model.
The trailer showed how Jharrel Jerome, who plays Anthony Robles in the movie, went through the process of going to high school and becoming a star, but saw other people commit to some of his dream schools like Iowa that didn’t recruit him.
Then he was convinced to go to ASU, put in the hard work to be a standout collegiately for a well-recognized program and the rest was history. He was a three-time Pac-10 champion, owned a record of 122–23 and was a three-time All-American for ASU.
With it being a true story based on Robles’ experiences in real life as well as the acting vividly painting a picture of what exactly happened, it looks to be a very intriguing movie that Sun Devil Nation and people around the world can follow the powerful message that people can do anything if they put their mind to it.
The movie is scheduled to be released on Jan. 16, 2025.
