Anticipation and hype was growing all offseason for the debut of Marvin Harrison Jr. in an Arizona Cardinals jersey after Arizona selected the Ohio State product No. 4 overall in April.

However, after a legendary college career, Harrison only had one catch for four yards in Arizona’s 34-28 Week 1 loss against the Buffalo Bills. He was targeted three times during the game, all in the first half.

“It wasn’t what I wanted to happen,” Harrison said of his debut (via azcardinals.com). “It wasn’t what the team wanted to happen.”

Earlier this week, Cardinals coach Jonathan Gannon said that Harrison would be “fine” moving forward after saying immediately after the loss that the Bills did a good job “clouding” him.

“Nobody’s going to put more expectations or pressure on him than himself,” Gannon added Tuesday about Harrison.

Arizona had an overall pretty strange stat sheet when it came to the wide receivers, as Kyler Murray threw for 162 yards on the night, but only 31 in the second half.

Murray was not fazed by the Week 1 loss and Harrison’s low production.

“Nothing changes,” Murray said. “We have the utmost confidence in what we’re capable of.

“I’ll never lose confidence in Marv.”

All things considered, the Cardinals played well against a Super Bowl contender after finishing last season 3-14. Now, they head into Week 2 against a depleted division foe in the Los Angeles Rams (0-1).

“I don’t think we’re in a bad place right now at all,” Harrison said.
