Suffering a right knee injury and being ruled out since July 6, Betnijah Laney-Hamilton has been warming up recently and all signs are pointing towards a possible return to the New Liberty Liberty as soon as Monday night against the Phoenix Mercury.

Originally starting in all 18 games that she played in before her injury, Laney-Hamilton was seen taking shots and her health status was upgraded to questionable before the Liberty faced the Connecticut Sun on Saturday.

Prior to her lengthy absence, she was averaging 12.7 points, 4.5 rebounds and 3.6 assists per game in her fourth season with the Liberty.

Selected by the Chicago Sky in the second round of the 2015 WNBA Draft, the 6-foot guard/forward has played two years (2015-16), and one on the Sun (2018), Indiana Fever (2019) and Atlanta Dream (2020) before finding a stable home in New York. The Delaware native missed the entire 2017 season with an ACL injury.

With her rehab process progressing to where she is back on the court again, it’s only a matter of time until Laney-Hamilton is back in the lineup and contributing for the best team in the WNBA.

As for the Mercury, they will continue to be without Rebecca Allen (Right Hamstring) and Charisma Osborne (Left Lower Leg). Injured multiple times in her first year as a Mercury, Allen suffered her injury in a pre-Olympic exhibition for Australia which ruled her out for the tournament and she has missed the past four games for Phoenix. Osborne has not played since June 22.

The Liberty take on the Mercury on Monday inside Footprint Center at 7 p.m. PT.
