The Paris 2024 Olympics women’s golf tournament is less than 12 hours away from crowning the gold, silver and bronze medal winners and five golfers with ASU ties will need to play their best golf if they want to win one of the rewards.
Thank you for reading this post, don't forget to subscribe! While Germany’s Alexandra Försterling (6-over par), Spain’s Carlota Ciganda (10-over) and Italy’s Alessandra Fanali (12-over) will all need an absolute miracle to happen for a medal, Spain’s Azahara Muñoz and Sweden’s Linn Grant have a legitimate chance to climb up the leaderboard and earn a respectable finish.
After starting the tournament with a 6-over par, Munoz broke even in the third round on Friday. Grant was a 1-over par on Thursday and slipped to 2-over, but has enough room to jump over other competitors in front of her as well.
If they want to achieve a medal, it is not impossible but will need near perfection on Saturday morning and hope the people above them fall off. With a 9-under, Morgane Metraux (Switzerland) is the joint leader of the table with Lydia Ko (New Zealand) who played arguably the best golf of Thursday by posting six birdies for a 68 through 54 holes.
American Rose Zhang made two eagles en route her jumping from No. 12 to a tie for third with Miyū Yamashita of Japan with a -7.
Here is the current leaderboard at Le Golf National heading into Friday:

Unlike other Olympic sports, golf does not have any eliminations as each person will compete throughout the entirety of the tournament. Since there is a tie for gold and bronze, there may be playoffs if there is a tie after Round 4 concludes to decide who wins the gold, silver and bronze medals.
To watch, the final round will be on Golf Channel and the streaming service Peacock at midnight PT on Saturday.
