HoopsHype’s Michael Scotto reported on X: “The Phoenix Suns are hiring John Little as head coach of their G League affiliate, the Valley Suns, sources told @hoopshype. Little was the associate head coach of the Maine Celtics. Prior to that, Little was an assistant coach with the Wisconsin Herd in the Mike Budenholzer era.”

The hiring of Little would be the first move made by new Valley Suns general manager Brendan Sabean.

Little was originally a shooting guard with over a decade of overseas experience. He was then hired as a video coordinator at his alma mater, the University of Northern Iowa, in 2017. He spent a couple seasons there before taking an assistant job with the Herd in 2019, where he overlapped for Budenholzer’s last four seasons with the Milwaukee Bucks.

Little joined the Maine Celtics this past season and helped lead the team to its first G-League Finals appearance.

The Valley Suns selected 14 players in an expansion draft earlier last month. Jahlil Okafor, Emmanuel Mudiay, Denzel Valentine and Theo Maledon highlighted the names from the draft. Additionally, Phoenix has signed undrafted Baylor wing Jalen Bridges and former Nuggets guard Collin Gillespie to two-way contracts, so they could see some time with the Valley Suns.

The G League Suns will be playing their inaugural season at Arizona State University’s Mullett Arena beginning this fall. Fans interested in season tickets can visit thevalleysuns.com for more information.
