Ladies and gentlemen, Kahleah Copper did it again.

Thank you for reading this post, don't forget to subscribe!

On Wednesday, Copper scored 34 points to lead the Phoenix Mercury past the Dallas Wings on the road. Copper hit the dagger with 21.8 seconds remaining in the fourth quarter, courtesy of the extra pass via Diana Taurasi.

Perfectly executed.

“I was having fun, I was aggressive, I was playing defense,” said Copper.

Copper has been one of the WNBA’s top clutch scorers this season, and has been relied upon as the Mercury’s closer. She’s proven before that she’s built for these moments. And she continues to deliver when her team needs her the most.

Copper’s 34 points marks her sixth game this season with 30-plus — the most in the WNBA.

She’s had her inconsistencies through the past few games, but even so, her downhill attack forces defenses to react whether she’s hitting shots or not. She’s always remained poised in every single moment, no matter what coverage is thrown her way. Even when she’s not making shots, she’s not disrupting the flow of the Mercury’s offense because she picks her spots at the right moments.

It’s tough being the first person on a scouting report, and it’s even tougher to outplay the scheme thrown at you. Copper was able to do that and then some against Dallas.

“[Kahleah] getting another 30-points, I think she leads the league in that which is awesome,” said Mercury head coach Nate Tibbetts. “Credit to her, I thought she had some pop again tonight, she was attacking and getting downhill.”

Nights like these prove why Copper is what she is. An All-Star, Olympian, and one of the premier players in the WNBA. Through all the talk of the growth in women’s basketball, Copper’s name seemingly gets forgotten in the conversation. But based off her exceptional season so far, she should be one of the names that starts those exact conversations.
