Arizona Diamondbacks select SS Tommy Troy with 12th overall pick

Stanford infielder/outfielder Tommy Troy (12) goes to the next base after Tennessee infielder Christian Moore (1) misses the catch during the NCAA Baseball College World Series game in Omaha, Nebraska, on Monday, June 19, 2023.

With the 12th overall pick in the 2023 MLB Draft, the Arizona Diamondbacks selected SS Tommy Troy out of Standford University.

Last year at Standford, the 21-year-old finished with a .394 batting average and a 1.1777 OPS. Impressively enough, Troy did not whiff at a single 95+ fastball over a 48-pitch span. This led Troy to be listed as MLB Pipelines #17 overall prospect.

Additionally, with his strong arm, Troy has proven that he can play multiple positions. During his three seasons at Standford, the slugger played a little bit of everything around the infield.

The Arizona Diamondbacks next pick will be in the 2nd round at 48th overall.
