Christian Walker started the 5th inning with a leadoff base knock. Joc Pederson followed this up with a double to give the Diamondbacks runners on 2nd and 3rd with nobody out.

Jace Peterson contributed the first run with a sacrifice fly. Shortly after, Miles Mikolas struggled with control, walking several batters and subsequently being pulled from the game.

With two outs, the Diamondbacks capitalized, driving in three more runs to extend their lead to 5-0.

This burst of offense proved sufficient as Zac Gallen delivered six shutout innings, striking out seven. Following his exit, Joe Mantiply and Bryce Jarvis held the Cardinals hitless over the next three innings, allowing just one runner to reach base.

Christian Walker accounted for almost half of the D-backs’ hits as he went 3-4 at the plate, all three of his hits were singles.

With this victory, the Diamondbacks have won four of their last six games, returning their record to .500. They are set to face the Chicago Cubs tomorrow at 6:40 pm.
