With a chance to clinch the 7th seed or better hanging in the balance, Bradley Beal came up clutch defensively in the final seconds of the Suns’ victory over the Kings on Friday night.

At one point, Phoenix found themselves trailing by as much as 16 points, and with the Pelicans defeating Golden State, it seemed like a disastrous night was unfolding for the Suns.

Which is why, when Jusuf Nurkic sank a critical free throw to give Phoenix a one-point lead, and then Bradley Beal shut down De’Aaron Fox on the final defensive possession, a strong wave of emotion erupted from Phoenix.

Following the win, when asked was type of zone he was in, Beal responded with, “playoff zone.” He then went on to explain both his personal desire and the team’s collective desire to win a ring.

Fortunately for Beal and the Suns, the past few weeks have provided ample preparation for the playoffs, with each of their last 10 opponents being playoff-caliber teams.

The Suns have gone 6-3 in this stretch, with their final matchup coming on Sunday against the Minnesota Timberwolves.

To avoid the play-in tournament, the Suns must secure a victory against the Timberwolves, while also relying on the Lakers to defeat the New Orleans Pelicans.

However, if the Pelicans do win, Phoenix will find themselves competing in the play-in tournament against the winner of the Lakers versus Warriors matchup.
