Rodriguez began the season on the 15-day injured list after sustaining a strained lat during his fourth Spring Training start. Initially expected to miss just the first month, it now seems unlikely that Rodriguez will return to the mound for Arizona before May.

The Diamondbacks had secured Rodriguez with a four-year, $80 million contract last December..

Last season, the lefty posted a 3.30 ERA with the Detroit Tigers. The 8-year veteran’s best season came in 2019 when he picked up 19 wins for the Boston Red Sox.

In Rodriguez’s absence, the Diamondbacks’ starting rotation has faced early challenges, contributing to a 6-8 record.

Compounding their difficulties, Jordan  Montgomery, another significant offseason acquisition, remains in Triple-A, and closer Paul Sewald is also on the injured list.

Stay tuned for further updates.
