Boulder Creek entered the Open State Playoffs as the No. 8 seed. However, they fell short to No. 25-seeded Desert Vista during the first round. This has been the biggest upset in the bracket by far.

Pair of upsets occur in first round of Open State Playoffs

Similarly, the Jaguars (17-10) were defeated by a lower seed during the first round of last year’s Open State Playoffs.

Led by junior Andrew Bhesania, Boulder Creek has proven that it can compete with high-level teams in the state.

As the No. 1 seed, they will face the winner between Queen Creek and Mountain View on Wednesday, Feb. 21 @ 7 p.m. MST.
