While free agency is not on the horizon until after the 2025 season, Gallen wanted to make his stance crystal clear.

Acknowledging the absence of recent contract discussions, Gallen emphasized how the Diamondbacks’ recent postseason push has influenced his upcoming decision. He stated, “Especially after us having the success and seeing that there’s some energy here about baseball, and the fans have proven that they want a winner here. I love it here. That’s where I’m at. If they want to decide to do something, great; we’ll sit down and figure it out and see what happens. As of right now, nothing has been done.”

Gallen has played in Arizona for the past five seasons. He has now experienced the lowest of the lows and is close to the highest of the highs.

In the previous year, he boasted a 17-9 record with a 3.47 ERA, earning him the starting pitcher spot for the National League in the 2023 All-Star game. Additionally, Gallen secured a 3rd place finish in Cy Young Voting.

Given the fact that contracts only continue to grow exponentially, the pressure is on the Diamondbacks to make Zac their franchise pitcher.

But, of course, one postseason run is not enough to satisfy Gallen. According to Arizona Republic, the Diamondbacks’ ace noted, “I want this to be a place where, ‘OK, that’s a team that’s shooting for the playoffs and has a really good shot.’”
