What led to overtime
Basha came out the gate firing and got it going early on. The team entered halftime with all the momentum leading Perry 42-29.
However, as expected, the No. 1 ranked Pumas did not go down without a fight. They outscored the Bears 38-25 in the second half, forcing overtime play. Perry was then shut out in overtime and fell short.
Basha was led by sophomore point guard Mason Magee. Magee scored 26 points and gave his team the spark they needed down the stretch.

Perry juniors Koa Peat and No No Brown each put up 22 points.
This was an important revenge win for the Bears, as they faced off against the Pumas earlier this month and lost by double-digit points.
Playoffs approach
According to MaxPreps, the Bears were ranked as the No. 11 team in the state before this win. They will undoubtedly jump back into the top 10 after defeating the No. 1 ranked team and reigning open state champion.

Basha has just two regular-season games remaining this season, while Perry has three remaining.
Both of these teams have one clear goal to be named 2024 Open State Champions. With how hectic the season has been, it is safe to say that the title is up for grabs.
