Suffering an injury, Schmaltz left at the tail end of the second period on Jan. 16 vs. the Calgary Flames.Â
He did not return for the remainder of the game, and has not played in another contest for the Coyotes since.
This season, Schmaltz had 13 goals and 15 assists for 28 points in 42 games. He had three goals and three assists in his last eight games prior to his setback.
Even though the roster has been changing numerous times recently, Schmaltz should reunite with Clayton Keller on the first line and top power play unit for Arizona.
The Coyotes face the Panthers tonight at 5 p.m. MST in Amerant Bank Arena.
