This is a massive blow for the Coyotes as Dumba has been a defensive force on the backend this season.
Following him inking a one-year, $3.9 million contract with Arizona, the 11-year NHL veteran in Dumba has two goals, three assists, 84 hits and 61 blocks in 44 games.
In the ‘Yotes 5-2 win over the Pittsburgh Penguins on Jan. 22, he suffered the injury, gave it go a couple shifts later, but was ultimately out for the rest of the game.
As a corresponding move, the Coyotes recalled Victor Söderström from the Tuscon Roadrunners (AHL) yesterday.
Since Stecher will miss 4-6 weeks with a lower-body injury and Dumba’s absence, expect defensemen like Josh Brown, Juuso Välimäki and Michael Kesselring to play more minutes.
Kickstarting a three-game roadtrip, the ‘Yotes clash with the Florida Panthers tonight at 5 p.m. MST.
