With the Pittsburgh Penguins trailing 3-2, they were trying to kill off a penalty against the Arizona Coyotes.

As time was dwindling while being shorthanded, Coyotes left wing Jason Zucker hooked Bryan Rust and the officials instantly raised their arms for the infraction.

But that was not even the worst part of this sequence in the Coyotes’ 5-2 win Monday night.

To get an extra man on the ice with a penalty soon to be called, Penguins goaltender Tristan Jarry rushed towards the bench.

Trying to maintain puck possession, Kris Letang skated back into Pittsburgh’s defensive zone and waited for Pittsburgh to regroup.

Looking behind him, Letang sent a pass back to Malkin and that was when the chaos began.

Shocking everybody inside Mullett Arena, Malkin bobbled the puck and it trickled into his own net.

Letang and Malkin were in disbelief with what just happened as Pittsburgh trailed 4-2 because Malkin’s mistake.

Fortunately for Lawson Crouse, he was credited with the goal at 4:10 in the third period, even though he didn’t touch the puck.

After all of that, Zucker was still sent to the penalty box since Arizona was on the power play.
