While Ertz will begin this week on the Lions practice squad, it is expected that he will work his way up to the active roster by Sunday, per Tom Pelissero.

Including a Super Bowl championship with the Eagles in 2017, Ertz has experience in five different playoff runs. Most recently, he was with the Arizona Cardinals, where they were blown out by the Rams in the 2022 Wild Card round.

Ertz spent the last two and a half seasons in Arizona. Unfortunately, a handful of injuries kept him off the field for a good amount of time. This season, he played in just 7 games and averaged a little less than 30 yards per game.

The two parties then parted ways in late November. This news was actually broken by none other than J.J. Watt when he announced Zach Ertz “requested and was granted his release from Arizona.”

Now, at 33 years old, the three-time Pro Bowler will look to help the Lions reach their first Super Bowl in franchise history. The Lions will take on the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday at 6:30 p.m. E.T. at Levi’s Stadium.
