In the ever-heated debates within the NBA community about who deserves the title of the greatest of all time (GOAT), the spotlight has predominantly focused on iconic figures like LeBron James and Michael Jordan.

However, there is an argument to be made for other players to at least be in the discussion.

Recently sharing his perspective in an interview with the Arizona Republic, Durant questioned, “Why shouldn’t I be in that? That’s the question you should ask. Why not? What haven’t I done?”

As of now, Durant sits comfortably at 10th place on the NBA’s all-time scoring list with an impressive 27,913 points. Projections indicate that, should he maintain his current pace of 29 points per game, he will surpass both Carmelo Anthony and Shaquille O’Neal by the end of the season.

The 13-time All Star ranks6th all-time in points per game, 9th in player efficiency rating, and 7th all time in playoff points.

Addressing a key aspect of the ongoing discussion, Durant highlighted that his time with the Warriors, where he secured two NBA Finals victories and earned Finals MVP honors twice, often gets overlooked due to the “super team” label.

Durant on why people leave him out of the GOAT discussion, stated, “Because I went to the Warriors.”

Considering KD is having one of his best seasons at 35 years old, he will only continue to move up the ranks in scoring and plenty of other categories. By the end of his career, it will be difficult to leave Durant out of the greatest of all time talks.
