Even though tight end Zach Ertz requested to be released from the Arizona Cardinals, he has cleared waivers and went unsigned.

On Nov. 30, Ertz decided the best thing for his career was to leave the valley and look elsewhere.

However, no other team chose to pick him up despite having “serious talks” with several teams.

What now?

Ertz has been on injured reserve since Oct. 24 after suffering a quadricep strain during Arizona’s 20-10 defeat to the Seattle Seahawks two days before.

From then on, Ertz has been on the sidelines and hasn’t played a snap of NFL football.

Ertz ended up playing seven games this season prior to his injury.

In 2023, Ertz gathered 27 catches for 187 yards and scored a touchdown for Arizona.

There have been rumblings by multiple NFL insiders saying that teams like the San Francisco 49ers, Baltimore Ravens, Kansas City Chiefs and others are either interested or have had conversations with the 12-year veteran.

But there is a team that Ertz played for nine years with and could entertain a reunion with him once more, the Philadelphia Eagles.

The Eagles’ fanbase have been spreading rumors in hopes of Ertz returning to the city where he won Super Bowl LII for.

Time will tell if and when he makes his decision, but do not be surprised of news comes out soon on this situation.

As the only guarantee in Ertz’s free agency saga, he will not return as an Arizona Cardinal.

Once Ertz does pick his next team, Burn City Sports will keep you up-to-date.
