Women’s college basketball: The ladies of Grand Canyon University have something to say

At the 1995 Source awards, the rap group, Outkast, won the award for best new artist. The crowd booed them as they were rooting for New York natives Smif-N-Wessen to win.

Thank you for reading this post, don't forget to subscribe!

This award show happened at the height of the east coast, west coast hip-hop beef and Outkast is a rap group from Atlanta, Georgia. One of the members of the group, Andre 3000, accepted the award, stepped to the microphone and said, “The south got something to say.”

Andre 3000 may not have known how powerful of a moment that would become as Outkast became one of the greatest hip-hop groups of all-time. Atlanta and New Orleans, Louisiana would become two of the main hubs for hip-hop talent as the years went on. Thus, proving that the south did indeed have something to say.

Right now in women’s college basketball all of the attention goes to the top ranked teams like Iowa, Louisiana State, and South Carolina. Off to the side, just being consistently good are the Grand Canyon University Antelopes who may have something to say.

Balanced like a tight rope
