Former GCU Men’s Basketball star Gabe McGlothan earned the starting nod for the Boston Celtics on Friday night in Philadelphia, taking the floor against LeBron James, Jaylen Brown, and company.

McGlothan made the most of his 29 minutes of action in the Celtics’ overtime win, putting together a strong double-digit effort on the glass with six points, 13 rebounds, two assists, and a steal.
Interestingly, the Boston roster also features Iowa alum Luka Garza- the very player McGlothan battled against during GCU’s historic first-ever March Madness appearance in Indiana back in 2021.
After concluding his standout college career in 2024, McGlothan went undrafted but quickly joined the Grand Rapids Gold, the NBA G League affiliate of the Denver Nuggets. In August 2025, he was traded to Indiana’s Noblesville Boom. He later earned a 10-day contract with the Pacers before being waived in December 2025 and battling injuries for the remainder of that season.
Boston’s interest in McGlothan dates back to 2025 when he participated in a team scrimmage. It comes as no surprise that he made his way back to Boston this offseason, where he is currently signed to an Exhibit 10 training camp contract.
The Celtics open their regular season schedule on Tuesday on the road against the Detroit Pistons.
