Arizona State Adds Third Lineman Recruit in Ise Matautia

Once again, the O-Line is being fixed. Arizona State adds former New Mexico Lobo Ise Matautia from the transfer portal.

Matautia started in 22 games for the Lobos in his three seasons. In his Freshman season, he played in four games, which earned him a redshirt, but he did not allow a sack in 87 snaps. In his Redshirt Freshman season, he only played in eight games due to injury. Then, in his Redshirt Sophomore season, Matautia played and started in all 12 games. So, he is one of the most proven players in this transfer class for Arizona State, along with San Diego State linebacker Zyrus Fiaseu.

Matautia was a three-star lineman coming out of Anaheim, California. He is 6’2 and 346 pounds. However, he was not even a top 130 Offensive Lineman recruit out of high school, so he only had three D1 offers, with those being from New Mexico, Weber State, and Idaho State.

The Redshirt Junior Lineman is the second offensive lineman transfer. He is also the third O-Line commit in the last two days. Matautia joins former Arkansas Razorback Joey Su’a and Oregon High Schooler Terrell Kim. There is also still one more O-Lineman who visited ASU on the same visit, so there is a chance that Dillingham isn’t done addressing the weakest point of his team.
