Saguaro Back For Vengence

The Saguaro Sabercats varsity baseball team is coming off a season where they finished 25-9 but fell short 4-1 to Canyon del Oro in the 4A state championship.

The team dominated throughout the season as they outscored their opponents 266-141.

Saguaro now has recent playoff experience and can learn from the mistakes that cost them the 4A title.

Superstar Talent

The team’s superstar player is junior pitcher/outfielder/first baseman Cam Caminiti.

Caminiti is committed to Lousiana State University and is ranked as the No. 1 prospect in the entire state, according to Prep Baseball.

During the team’s incredible championship run, he batted .446 with 35 hits, 31 runs, and 26 RBIs.

The elite two-way player will look to lead his team to a championship win during his third season.

Capitalizing On Loss

The Sabercats have the talent and coaching to make another run and be named state champions.

Head coach Joe Muecke took over in 2014 and has brought a winning culture to the program. Muecke was named AIA’s 4A-6A coach of the year in 2019.

While it will be a long season, the Saguaro Sabercats have proven to be able to make a deep run and will attempt to replicate that this season.

Their season kicks off Thursday, Feb. 22 against the Mountain View Toros.
