Last Time Out

The Phoenix Suns moved to 11-6 and got their seventh straight victory after Devin Booker hit an incredible game-winner to cap off a 116-113 victory over the New York Knicks (9-8). This shot was just ridiculous over two defenders to give the Suns a three-point lead with under two seconds left. Booker finished with 28 points, 11 assists and five rebounds and the highest plus minus on the team at +15 in total. Kevin Durant and Grayson Allen, arguably two of the top 3 players on the Suns without Bradley Beal, were late scratches before the game, so the Suns depth really paid off and was the story of the game until that Booker shot. Eric Gordon had 25 points on 6-of-9 shooting from deep, while Jordan Goodwin tied his season high with 14 points for the second straight night. Jalen Brunson had 35 points and eight assists, while Julius Randle had 28 points for New York, but the Suns still were able to pull off the W.

The Toronto Raptors (8-10) fell to the Brooklyn Nets (9-8) 115-103 last night in Brooklyn for their second-straight loss. The Raptors had six players score in double figures in the loss. Pascal Siakam and Scottie Barnes each finished with 17 points, while Gary Trent Jr. had 15 off the bench to lead Toronto. The Nets outrebounded the Raptors 59-46, while Toronto hsot below 40% from the floor (38.6%). Despite the score, this game came down to the final minutes, so the Raptors were definitely playing hard before traveling back to Toronto for tonight’s game. This was the final NBA In-Season Tournament game for both teams, as neither will move onto the knockout round.

Team Matchup Notes

Here are some stats, notes and everything else to know about the Suns and Raptors before their first matchup of the season (via Suns)

Each team’s stats (via Suns and Raptors):

Five Keys to Game for Suns

  1. Keep Devin Booker rolling even with KD back
  2. Depth still needs to step up big without Grayson Allen
  3. Try to jump on the Raptors early and take advantage of them playing last night
  4. Get out in transition as much as possible
  5. Find a way to get Josh Okogie going, as they can’t afford a poor shooting night from him without Allen and Nassir Little
