The Phoenix Suns, grappling through a challenging first half, now face a 7-point deficit against the Toronto Raptors.

It was far from a picturesque performance, especially for their starting five, who struggled to discover a consistent shooting rhythm.

Devin Booker made just 1 shot out of 8 attempts, while Kevin Durant made 4 of 10, a rare sight to see this season.

For a team accustomed to a field goal percentage around 50%, the Suns concluded the first half with a subpar 41% success rate. Their struggles also extended beyond two-pointers, with just 3 successful three-pointers out of 12 attempts.

The opening quarter was particularly tough for the Suns, as they mustered only 20 points—a season low.

At one point, the Raptors did pull away to a 12-point lead, however, the Suns managed to stay in the game by capitalizing on some Toronto mistakes and winning the rebounding game.

Making 14 free throws also helped.

On Toronto’s sideline, it was almost the exact opposite, as they had some strong shooting performances from Pascal Siakam, O.G. Anunoby, and Jakob Poeltl.

Considering the challenges faced by the Suns’ star players in the initial half, the fact that they only trail by 7 points can be viewed as a positive outcome.
