Where is the Plan B?

The Rams drove right down the field on their first possession and took an early 7-0 lead. The Cardinals were able to respond immediately with their first drive. Kyler Murray went for 5/7 for 50 yards and ended the drive with a touchdown run.

The Cardinals took a 8-7 lead with 4:50 left in the first quarter. Arizona didn’t score again until there were 5:17 left in the fourth quarter.

The Rams definitely deserve a lot of credit for the offensive woes of the Cardinals but the Cardinals’ offensive coaches need to be held accountable. Arizona has struggled to score in the second half of games all season. The dry spells are not just a lack of talent. They are due to a lack of adjustments by the coaches.

The coaches have not gotten much criticism because the Cardinals came into this season with low expectations. The next few weeks will be very important when it comes to the evacuation of head coach Jonathan Gannon and offensive coordinator Drew Petzing.

The Run Defense Got Exposed

The Los Angeles Rams were able to run for 228 yards against the Cardinals. Kyren Williams has had his best games against the Cardinals. Earlier this season he ran for 158 yards and a touchdown on 20 carries in the first match-up between these teams.

Williams followed that up by running for 143 yards on 16 carries on Sunday. He was not the only one to have success against the Cardinals. Royce Freeman also ran for 77 yards and a touchdown.

The Cardinals can not expect to win games when teams are running for 6.9 yards per carry. This led to the Rams controlling the ball for most of the game. Los Angeles won the time of possession battle 34:52 to 25:08.

Arizona is eliminated from any playoff scenarios but this is still a very important time for them to evaluate talent for next year. This is the talent both on and off of the field.
