Despite ultimately securing a win in overtime, the game brought attention to a broader issue the Suns are grappling with this season.

Over the first eight games, the Suns are averaging 16.5 turnovers per game, ranking them third-worst in the league.

The Suns are currently averaging 4 turnovers a game more compared to 2022.

Only the Detroit Pistons and Utah Jazz, both with 2-7 records, have more turnovers, emphasizing the correlation between turnovers and losses.

While the Suns have managed to navigate through several challenges this season, this recurring problem is poised to catch up with them sooner rather than later.

Interestingly, it’s not the Suns’ bench that is primarily responsible for the turnovers; instead, the team’s top players are leading in this department.

Kevin Durant, Devin Booker, Jusuf Nurkic, Bradley Beal, and Grayson Allen—all considered among the Suns’ five best players—lead the team in turnovers per game.

Notably, Durant is experiencing a career-high average of 4.3 turnovers per game.

The Suns undeniably face a turnover problem, and unless addressed promptly, it’s only a matter of time before it becomes an obstacle to their success this season.
