Zac Gallen was an ace this year, and the MLB rewarded it. He was named an NL Cy Young finalist. The Cy Young Award is given to the best pitcher in each league.

Gallen will be up against Blake Snell and Logan Webb. Snell is the favorite to win. However, Gallen put up a fight. He ended the 2023 regular season with a 3.47 ERA, 220 strikeouts, and a 1.12 WHIP. He led the Diamondbacks to their first postseason birth since 2017 and led them through the postseason.

I do believe that Snell will be the winner. I mean, there isn’t a question. Snell didn’t throw as many innings, but he finished with a 2.25 ERA in 180 innings. He also still got 234 strikeouts despite playing 40 fewer innings. His WHIP was 1.19. He was electric and lights out. This would be his second Cy Young. He took home the AL Cy Young when he was in Tampa in 2018.
Gallen was huge for the young D-backs squad this year, but no one was topping what Snell did for San Diego. Gallen will have more chances at a Cy Young, though. He’s that good.
