Tibbetts doesn’t have a lot of coaching experience with women’s sports but during his introductory statements, he has said that he’s willing to learn alongside the players he’s coaching to bring out the best in him as well as the team.

Tibbetts also had a nice back-and-forth funny moment with star and future hall-of-fame guard Diana Taurasi as he said that what sold him to coming aboard was the fact that Taurasi would actually play defense.

This type of expression and personality is the main reason why owner Mat Ishbia chose Tibbetts to be the main guy for the Mercury.

General Manager Nick U’Ren also talked about why Tibbetts is the right man for the job and how his background in the NBA as well as his analytics is a main reason why they believe he will turn things around in the Valley.
