Merrill Kelly, the D-backs’ starting pitcher, allowed just three hits in his 5.2 innings on the mound; unfortunately, all three hits happened to be solo home runs.

The onslaught began with Trea Turner in the 1st inning, followed by Kyler Schwarber, who launched two homers of his own, including a colossal 427-foot blast in the 6th inning that ultimately marked the end of Kelly’s night.

However, once the Diamondbacks did turn to their bullpen, things got ugly quickly.

Immediately after Kelly was pulled, the Phillies exploded on offense, putting up six runs off Joe Mantiply and Ryne Nelson, who combined for just one inning.

Kyler Schwarber, Bryson Scott, and J.T. Realmuto all enjoyed two-hit performances during this offensive showcase.

On the flip side, Aaron Nola delivered a masterful performance for the Phillies on the mound. Nola struck out seven Diamondbacks over six innings, allowing just three hits.

Through the initial two games of this NLCS, the Diamondbacks have mustered a mere four runners in scoring position and tallied only eight hits.

So far, it has been a complete dismantling by the Phillies, who are still undefeated at home this postseason.

The silver lining for Arizona is that they now head back home to Chase Field for the next three games.

Game 3 is scheduled for Thursday, with Brandon Pfaadt set to take the mound for the Diamondbacks.
