GLENDALE – After a blowout loss to the Detroit Lions on Sunday, the Arizona Cardinals have officially reached a new low, and it is becoming increasingly difficult to separate their struggles on the field from the growing frustration surrounding the franchise. Following Sunday’s loss, Arizona has lost nine consecutive home games, the longest home losing streak in franchise history. The Cardinals are now five losses away from matching the 14-game NFL benchmark for consecutive home defeats.

But the most concerning part of this streak might not be the number itself. It says more about the Cardinals’ inability to establish a genuine home-field advantage. State Farm Stadium should be a difficult place for opposing teams to play. Instead, Arizona frequently finds itself surrounded by visiting supporters, creating an atmosphere that can feel more favorable to the opposition than the home team.

That imbalance becomes even more noticeable when the Cardinals struggle to give their fans a reason to believe. Fans cannot be expected to maintain unlimited enthusiasm when the product repeatedly disappoints. Winning builds loyalty, excitement, and an atmosphere that can energize players. Losing erodes that connection, making it harder to convince supporters that attending another game is worth their time and money.

That creates a dangerous cycle: poor performances discourage fans, diminished home support weakens the atmosphere, and the franchise loses another potential advantage. The solution cannot simply be asking fans to show up louder. Arizona’s leadership must give them something worth supporting. That means demanding accountability, evaluating coaching and personnel decisions honestly, and establishing a consistent identity that supporters can recognize.

A dramatic change may be necessary if the Cardinals want to reverse their trajectory. Whether that means adjustments to the coaching staff, roster, or organizational approach, standing still is not an acceptable strategy. Nine consecutive home losses are a historic embarrassment. The bigger question is whether Arizona’s leadership recognizes what the streak represents.
