Tibbits has been a longtime NBA coach who has been with teams like the Portland Trail Blazers, Cleveland Cavaliers, and the Orlando Magic. This deal will make Tibbets the highest paid-coach in the WNBA.
The Mercury fired Vanessa Nygaard after 1 and a half seasons with the team. Nikki Blue took over as interim head coach for the remainder of the season as the Mercury finished with one of their worse records in the franchises’ history finishing 9-31.
