Jordan Goodwin Set to Make Debut with Phoenix Suns

The Phoenix Suns are taking on the Portland Trailblazers in their third preseason game on October 12th. Of course, the big story line of this game is Deandre Ayton going against his former team.

This will be billed as the “Ayton Revenge Game” but there will be a new Sun entering the rotation who could steal the show. Jordan Goodwin was a full participant in practice today.

The Suns don’t have an experienced “true” point guard on the roster. Goodwin does not have a ton of experience as he is entering his third season in the NBA and first with the Suns but he may fill that role for the Suns.

Goodwin was a four year starter as Saint Louis University.

During his four years at Saint Louis, Goodwin averaged 12.8 points, 8.8 rebounds, and 3.5 rebounds per game. He shot 42% from the floor and 27% from three point range.

He spent his two seasons in the NBA with the Washington Wizards. The Illnois native did not play much his rookie season. In his second year he appeared in 62 games, where he averaged 6.6 points and shot 44% from the floor.

Will Goodwin show the Suns’ coaching staff something that they have not seen this preseason and work his way into the rotation? He will have a big opportunity to do so in these next few games.
